Deep Routes Poetry Exchange
Deep Routes Poetry Exchange is a Poetry Day Ireland event in association with Narrative 4, supported by Poetry Ireland and Wexford Arts Centre.
The exchange involves emerging writers from last year’s Edna O’Brien Young Writers Bursary working in pairs and sharing personal stories from the past year. Each takes the thread of their fellow writer’s story in a new direction, expressing it through poetry.
The event will be launched on Poetry Day Ireland, Thursday, April 29th with an online performance of the completed works. The poems have also been published in an online and printed anthology, edited by Sinéad O’Reilly.
Original artwork for the project is provided by artists and Aosdána member Mick Mulcahy. Writer, poet and arts p.r. person Tom Mooney (Táin PR) has been an invaluable member of the backroom team. Donald MacDonald Graphic Design and illustrator David Mahon have advised on and assisted with design. Michael Duggan worked his magic on the video. Printing is by Hogan Print, Wexford.
The event is grant-aided by Poetry Ireland and Wexford Arts Centre. It is also supported by Green Acres Restaurant, Winestore & Gallery and Frank’s Place (both Wexford) and the organisations Narrative 4, MoLI (Museum of Literature Ireland), Museum of Childhood and Tramp Press.
